Embrace Hiking Half Day Adventure and Picnic Lunch - Gap Creek Falls, The Watagans

This is a Women Embrace Adventure (WEA) womens only hike followed by a healthy picnic lunch with a great bunch of active outdoor women. Our Hike leads to one of the best waterfalls in the Hunter area. We walk through dense rainforest, before descending into an inspiring amphitheatre of rock with the dramatic Gap Creek Falls. Spend some time looking around the base of the falls before heading back up to the picnic area for a beautiful healthy lunch with your fellow hikers prepared by your WEA hosts. This walk is particularly good on a hot day, where the cooling spray off the waterfall is appreciated - lets hope Mother Nature gives us a cracking day!

2 Women Embrace Adventure Hosts will lead this women only hike and be there to provide support, encouragement and help you every step of the way. They’ll also ensure you have a great time and provide a relaxed and fun experience for everyone.

Date:  Sunday, January 6th, 2019

Time:  9:15am for a 9:30am start - Finish 1:00pm

Meeting Place: We will meet at The Gap Creek picnic area, located at the end of Bangalow Road within the Watagans National Park (Off Mount Faulk Road). Please note that Faulk and Bangalow Roads are partly dirt road however both are easily accessible for cars and 4WDs

Cost:  $30 per person includes hike and lunch with an amazing bunch of women.

What's included: 

• 2 WEA Hosts leading the way

• A delicious picnic lunch including salad wraps, baked goods and cool refreshing drinks. We also supply bars and fruit if needed during the hike.

• Photos of your adventure that will be uploaded to the Facebook event page after the event.

What to bring: 

• Active wear suitable for outdoor activity  

• Hat

• Jacket if cool

• Sturdy joggers or hiking shoes

• Reading glasses if needed (we will give you a health history to fill out before we start) 

• Water bottle with at least 1 litre of water

• Sunscreen and bug protection

• Any personal medication that may be needed (e.g. asthma puffer) 

FAQs 

How fit do I need to be? 

We recommend a moderate level of fitness for this hike. Although the hike only covers 3-5km you will be walking through some tough terrain especially on the way back up from the water fall. If you are unsure we recommend joining one of our easier Hikenics before committing to this hike. However our attitude is that it's your day, and with our events having 2 WEA hosts we have the luxury to work with you at a level YOU are comfortable with, and have rest stops as often as YOU like. As with any physical activity, always discuss anything new with your doctor.


What if I don’t have anyone to go with? 

No problem at all, your Women Embrace Adventure host will make sure everyone meets before we set off. By the end of the day we're sure you would have found some new friends. 


Who will my Women Embrace Adventure host be? YOU ARE IN GREAT HANDS. At WEA we pride ourselves on ensuring all women on our events are well supported and have a great time and that means we always have 2 hosts (or a host and a guide) on each adventure. Either Katrina or Sharon (owners of WEA) or both will host this event. If only one of them can attend they will also bring another host or guide with them, depending on the activity. All WEA hosts have their first aid qualification and have knowledge of the adventure as they have already participated in the activity they are co-hosting at with WEA.

Do I need experience? 

Definitely not! If this is your first hike we can work with you to help you through the tricky parts. As long as you have a moderate level of fitness and love to get out and about in the great outdoors we would love to see you there.  


How many Women will be on my adventure? 

We like to keep things quite small and intimate at Women Embrace Adventure to offer you a supportive and friendly environment. Generally, there will be 10-15 women on your hike.

Will bad weather conditions affect my adventure? 

It could. Slight wet weather will generally not cause the cancellation of a hike. If the weather is inclement enough to be a potential safety risk, we will contact you in the days before the adventure to discuss your options. *See t&c below

No refunds will be given unless the trip is cancelled due to weather by Women Embrace Adventure, in which case full refund will be issued or the participant may elect to credit the booking amount to another tour date available. The booking is transferable, this is a women's only tour and can only be transferred to a female over 18 years of age.
